Based on what we know --

Should you wish to do so, this is something you might be able to answer for yourself.

First,

Only a few of the many HP printers support automatic 2-sided scan.

If you have any of the economy models (DeskJet, Envy), 2-sided scans are likely a manual operation.

Unfortunately, the onboard specifications available at the printer's product home website might not include this type of information.

Should you be running a supported version of Windows

AND

If you have installed the full driver printer software,

Then

HP Scan will include the type of scan operations of this type that are supported for supported paper size(s) and type(s).

Set the Shortcut to "PDF"

Look on the right side menu

Set the Page Size to "Letter" or "A4" as appropriate for your region

Next,

Check the available options in the drop-down menu for  "Page Sides" 

If 2-sided options is shown as "2-sided (manual)" then automatic 2-sided scan is not supported on your printer.
