Hi @majorpain515,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Great question! The ability to print previously scanned documents from a printer’s memory depends on the printer model and its features.

For Most HP Printers (Including Smart Tank, OfficeJet, LaserJet)

  • Standard HP printers do not store scanned documents permanently in internal memory for security reasons.
  • Scanned files are usually sent to:
    • A computer (via HP Scan software or HP app)
    • Email
    • USB drive (if supported)
  • Once the scan is complete, the printer clears the temporary memory.

    Exceptions
  • Some enterprise-level HP MFPs with embedded storage or hard drives (e.g., HP LaserJet Enterprise Flow series) can store scans for reprinting.
  • These models allow you to access stored jobs via Job Storage or Quick Copy features.

What You Can Do

  • If you scanned documents using HP PP or HP Scan, check:
    • HP App → History (on your PC or mobile device)
    • The folder where scans were saved (usually Documents → Scanned Documents)
  • If you used Scan to Email or Network Folder, retrieve the file from that destination.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
