LASERJET500 - SCAN TO EMAIL QUIT WORKING - SAYS USERNAME OR PASSWORD IS INCORRECT. ENSURE BOTH USER

We were using the scan to email function on our Laserjet 500.  All of the sudden it quit working and comes up with the Username or password is incorrect.  Ensure both user account and password are valid.  I've tried everything to resolve this and nothing works.  I put the IP address of the printer in the browser and went to the Scan/Default SMTP Configuration and there is no required access.  There are no restrictions in place on our side.  How do I get this to go away so that we are functional again?  Thanks.

What email service do you use?

 

This is likely related with your email security settings, not with any connectivity matter.

We are using gmail through outlook.  I checked gmail settings but couldn't find anything that was connected to the printer.

We are all set.  You were right.  It's in google security settings and you have to give less secure apps access to make it work.
