I have seen few users were reported the same problem few years ago and the solution was not found. For example, the following threads:

I'm not able to post there because it were archived, so I here is my solution.  I spent few hours debugging this problem and solved it finally.

 

In short, I disabled MSDFS VFS module in the samba config. It also could be something to do with "preserve case = yes case sensitive = yes" smb.conf settings too.

In the general, the problem is related to case sensitive settings. From the samba log, I discovered that my printer is trying to access \\192.x.x.x\SHARE\printer folder, but I configured it as \\192.x.x.x\Share\Printer.  That's the reason why it was not able to find existing "scan.pdf" and was overwriting it.
