HI @MrZaggy,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your LaserJet printer requires multiple power cycles to start photocopying, it indicates there might be an underlying issue. Here are some potential reasons and solutions:

Firmware Issue: Outdated or corrupted firmware can cause operational issues. Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date.

Hardware Problem: There could be a hardware malfunction within the printer, such as a faulty scanner or a sensor issue. This might require professional diagnosis and repair.

Connection Problems: Check all cables and connections to ensure they are secure and undamaged. If the printer is connected to a network, make sure the network connection is stable.

Software/Driver Issues: Ensure that the printer drivers on your computer are up to date. Sometimes, reinstalling the drivers can resolve such issues.

Power Supply Issues: Unstable power supply or a faulty power adapter can cause the printer to malfunction. Ensure the power source is stable and consider trying a different power outlet.

Internal Errors: The printer might be experiencing internal errors that get temporarily resolved when power cycled multiple times. Performing a factory reset might help. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

Overheating: If the printer overheats, it might not function correctly until it cools down. Ensure the printer is in a well-ventilated area and not exposed to excessive heat.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
