Hi @grappyti,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To change the default directory for saving files on an HP MFP M283fdw printer, you'll need to access the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) through a web browser on a computer connected to the same network as the printer. Here are the steps to follow.

  • Ensure that your computer and printer are connected to the same network.
  • Find the IP address of your printer. You can do this by printing a network configuration page from the printer. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to do this.
  • Open a web browser on your computer and enter the IP address of the printer in the address bar. Press Enter to access the Embedded Web Server.
  • On the EWS page, navigate to the "Scan" or "Scan to Network Folder" section. The exact location and terminology may vary depending on the printer's firmware version.
  • Look for an option related to "Save Location" or "Default Save Directory." Click on this option to access the settings.
  • In the settings, you should see a field where you can enter the new default directory or browse for a new folder. Enter the desired directory path or use the browse button to select a new folder.
  • After selecting the new default directory, save the settings by clicking on the "Apply" or "Save" button.
  • Once you've completed these steps, any scanned files or saved documents from the printer should be directed to the new default directory you specified.

Note: The steps outlined above are general guidelines based on typical printer configurations. The exact steps and options may vary depending on the printer's firmware version and specific settings

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
