@BERLO2991, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Great to hear that you love your HP OfficeJet Pro 8610—it's a solid printer. When the scanner isn't recognized in Windows 11 but printing still works, it’s usually a driver or software issue. Here’s a step-by-step guide to fix it:

Uninstall Old HP Software

Sometimes outdated or partially broken HP software can interfere with scanning.

Press Windows + R, type appwiz.cpl, and press Enter.

Uninstall anything that says HP OfficeJet Pro 8610, HP Smart, or HP Scan and Capture.

Restart your computer.

Download the Full Driver from HP

Go to the official HP driver page:
HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer series Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support

Select Windows 11 as your OS (it may show Windows 10 — it's usually still compatible).

Download the "Full Feature Software and Driver" (not just the basic driver).

Install it and follow all on-screen instructions (connect your printer when prompted).

Check Windows Services

Make sure the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is running:

Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.

Find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).

Right-click → Properties → Set to Automatic and click Start if not already running.

Check USB or Network Connection

USB: Try a different USB port or cable.

Network: Make sure the printer and computer are on the same Wi-Fi network.

You can also try accessing the scanner from the printer's IP address in your browser and see if scan options are available there.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
