This has been so painful.  My ability to scan has quit.  "No Computer Found".  I'm ready to toss this unit into the garbage.

Welcome to the HP Community --

Sure - printer is old -- maybe time to replace.  ?

What to do?

Though you did not mention the Operating System / version, it is known that Scan to Computer generally requires that (in Windows) the Full Feature Software must be installed, functional, AND have the Manage Scan to Computer feature enabled (for example,  this printer -- the Manage feature is located in the Printer Assistant).

The exception:

If you using Webscan, the Webscan feature must be enabled in the Embedded Web Server (EWS) -- once that is done, there is no need for additional software to use Webscan.

Be Aware - Embedded OCR software removed from this package

If you have a previously saved / downloaded copy of the Installation package archived or in your Downloads folder, use that.

OR

If you do not have a saved copy of the software, use the installation package in the provided link.

Why?

Know that in mid-2022, the current software was repackaged without the original OCR software.

If asked, opt for the Full Driver to be installed.

After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.

The installation of the full driver generally adds at least one, possibly two shortcuts to the Desktop.

Note Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and HP Scan are dependent on printer model and supported software options.
