My 8620 Shows "an original is jammed in the ADF feeder" I was not using the ADF and it won't go awa

I have reset the printer, unplugged the printer, checked for any printer or OS updates, checked the ADF path, cleaned the rollers on the ADF with alcohol, and, I can send print jobs to the printer and it prints but, I can't see any of the options on the control screen to be able copy a document.  The error message just stays on the screen

After Reading some other posts about having similar problems with the ADF feeder being jammed when, in fact it was not jammed, I thought I had tried everything to reset my printer and get rid of that message which kept me from getting to the standard readout board.  I tried something that someone said and, Viola! the error message went away and my message board now shows all the basic options on its home screen of, Copy Fax Scan Apps   I had tried everything, I thought, but, this time, when I hit the "OK" button on the bottom right hand corner of the screen, I lifted the cover to the scanner at the same time, and the screen reset and the "ADF jam in feeder," disappeared.  Hooray!!

I had not been using the ADF feeder when the error message came on and, I could print with the message displayed but, until I got the message to disappear, I couldn't get any other information on the display panel but the error message.

Took several hours of trial and error but, not it works....
