Hi @bakerla,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're having trouble with the scanning functionality on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9135e with your MacBook Pro.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps that might help resolve the issue:

1. Check Printer and Software Updates

  • Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the printer's control panel or HP Smart app.
  • macOS Updates: Make sure your MacBook Pro is updated to the latest version of macOS Monterey.
  • HP Smart App: If you're using the HP Smart app, check for updates within the app or consider reinstalling it.

2. Restart Devices

  • Restart both your printer and MacBook Pro. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues.

3. Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Remove Printer: Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners, select your printer, and remove it.
  • Reinstall: Add the printer again by clicking the "+" button. macOS should automatically find and install the necessary drivers.

4. Check Scanner Settings

  • Open the Preview or Image Capture app on your Mac and try scanning from there. Sometimes these apps can provide better control over scanning options.

5. Reset Printing System

  • Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Control-click) on the printer list and select Reset Printing System. This will remove all printers and reset the print system. You will need to add your printer again afterward.

6. Network Connection

  • Make sure both your MacBook Pro and the printer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Check for any network issues that might be causing the scanner options to fail.

7. Check for HP Software

  • HP offers additional software on its website that may provide more functionality. Visit the HP Support website and download the latest drivers and utilities for your printer model.

8. Firewall/Security Software

  • Check if any firewall or security software on your MacBook Pro might be blocking the scanner function. You can temporarily disable it to test if it’s causing the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
