HP Envy 4520
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Envy 4520 and for the last week ever time I scan a document as a pdf it makes it 24 x 36 roughly instead of a normal 8.5 x 11.  I can' t seem to find a solution.  The last scan that was normal was on May 6th, since then it has been scanning them as large documents.

It's true.

it's a bug. 🐛

HP knows.

Expect a fix in the form of a new version for HP Smart - likely about mid-June.

Printer is fine - other applications are not impacted (HP Scan / HP Scan and Capture, for example).

Meanwhile, use other means to scan or - if the situation allows it - ignore it for now and print the files as Shrink to Fit.

Example Print "bloat file" with Adobe Reader DC  > "Shrink oversized pages"

My Officejet Mobile 250 started doing the same thing and it's been making me crazy. HP should have said something and also needs to get that patch out sooner rather than later. Am WFH and it's a huge hassle, literally, to have huge scans.  Not all of them need to be printed so now I am stuck with PDFs with the wrong magnification? Is there any way to fix that?

Yes, you can "fix" the file though without the paid edit tools to do that, you might just have to resort to printing at "Shrink Oversized pages" and re-scanning the printed output.

Print "bloat file"using Adobe Reader DC  > Select Page Size and Handling >  "Shrink oversized pages"

Once printed, scan and save the printed document using OTHER than the application that has the bug.

I don't have an answer to "should have" / "should do" comments.

I spent years writing code - bugs are rarely fixed fast enough to satisfy unhappy users.
