When i scan pages through the ADF scanner on my printer I get a black line through the right side of the page about an inch thick, if I scan through the screen scanner the left half of the page is blacked out.. I just had to trash my old printer (which was the same one) because a co-worker broke it but i never had this problem with that one. Cleaned it off, set it up and the first scan came out messed up. On the other forums it says to clean the scanner glass and check for specs, which I've done several times and they're both spotless...Please help!

Hello, and Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

Sorry to be repetitious, but the usual suspect in a "black line through the ADF" issue is a piece of paper on the thin slit of the scanner window to the outer edge of the flatbed.
