Hi @acraigt6,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One printer isn't scanning, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:
- Check Printer Connection: Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer via USB or Wi-Fi. If it's a network printer, make sure it's connected to the same network as your computer.
- Update Printer Drivers: Outdated drivers can cause scanning issues. Go to the HP support website, enter your printer model, and download the latest drivers and software for Windows 11. Software and Drivers for HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer series
- Use HP Smart App: If you’re not already using it, try scanning from the HP Smart app, which you can download from the Microsoft Store. This app often provides better compatibility and additional scanning options.
- Check Printer Settings: Make sure the scanner is selected as the default scanning device. You can check this in the HP Smart app or through the Windows 11 scanning settings.
- Restart Devices: Sometimes a simple restart can fix connectivity or software issues. Turn off your printer and computer, wait a few moments, and then turn them back on.
- Reinstall HP Software: If the problem persists, uninstall the HP software from your computer, restart your computer, and then reinstall the latest version from the HP website.
- Check for Scanner Errors: Look for any error messages on the printer’s display or in the HP Smart app. If there's a specific error code, refer to the printer's manual or HP's support site for troubleshooting steps related to that code.
- Windows Troubleshooter: Run the built-in Windows troubleshooter for printers and scanners. Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Printer or Scanner.
Refer to this document: HP ENVY 5530 e-All-in-One Printer series User manual
