When I enter the fax number and dial it is stuck on "starting fax" and doesn't continue to dial or connect.  It works fine as a printer. I know it is an old product but I only need to send faxes occasionally.  The phone line is working. All updates have been completed.  Is there any hope? I actually don't know if it will receive a fax.  I am using a land line as the fax number and never use it as a phone line.  So it rings and then people hang up when they hear the fax sound.  I never receive many faxes so I don't know if anyone has tried.

@CHERYLJORG, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

 

I see that you are not able to send a fax. Are you using a dedicated fax line or a shared line?

Make sure you are using a 2-wire fax cable. Check the connections.

 

Follow the steps mentioned in this document - Resolve fax problems

 

Run a fax test on the printer. Go to Setup > Tools > Run fax test
