My MFP M471PCL6 prints just fine, but will not copy the color red. Can the scan lamp cause this?

Hi @HenryB36,

If your HP MFP M471 is not copying the color red effectively but prints fine, this issue may not directly be related to the scan lamp. Instead, the problem might be associated with color calibration or settings in the scanner or copier functions. Here are some steps you can try:

  1. Check Copy Settings:

    • Ensure that the copy settings are set to color mode and not black & white or grayscale mode.
  2. Calibrate the Scanner:

    • Sometimes, scanner calibration can resolve issues with color accuracy. Refer to your printer's user manual for steps on how to calibrate the scanner.
  3. Check for Firmware Updates:

    • Ensure your printer has the latest firmware updates installed, as updates can fix known issues or bugs.
  4. Perform a Color Calibration:

    • Your printer may have a built-in color calibration tool. Run the calibration to see if it corrects the color copying issue.
  5. Check the Scanner Glass:

    • Clean the scanner glass and the underside of the scanner lid. Dust or smudges can affect color scanning.
  6. Reset the Printer:

    • Perform a reset on the printer to see if this clears any temporary glitches. This can often be done by turning the printer off, unplugging it for a few minutes, and then plugging it back in.
