Hi @Buffymaignan,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 printer is not scanning to your MacBook Pro over the network but works fine when connected via USB, there are several potential reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.

Check Network Connection:

  • Make sure that both your printer and MacBook Pro are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • Verify that the Wi-Fi signal is strong and stable.

Update Printer Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your MacBook Pro. You can download the latest drivers from the official HP website.

Restart Devices:

  • Power off both the printer and your MacBook Pro.
  • Wait for a minute, then power them back on.
  • Try scanning again after the devices have restarted.

Verify Scanner Connection:

  • Ensure that the scanning function is enabled on your HP printer.
  • Check the printer's control panel for any error messages related to scanning.

Firewall/Antivirus Settings:

  • Check your MacBook Pro's firewall or antivirus settings. They might be blocking the communication between the printer and your computer. Temporarily disable these settings and see if scanning works.

HP Easy Scan Application:

  • Use the HP Easy Scan application on your MacBook Pro. This application is designed to work seamlessly with HP printers and may help resolve scanning issues.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Ensure that there are no conflicting software or applications that might interfere with the scanning process. Close unnecessary applications and try scanning again.

IP Address Configuration:

  • Verify that your printer has a static IP address or that the DHCP settings on the printer are configured correctly.

Reinstall Printer Software:

  • Uninstall the printer software from your MacBook Pro and reinstall it. Make sure to follow the installation instructions provided by HP.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
