HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g

My OnePlus Pad doesn't show on the printer screen as a destination to scan to like my Windows based laptops do.  Is this correct for this type of device or am I doing or not doing something right?  Should it show on the printer screen?  If so, then how?

Hi @RLee7,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're encountering an issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer not recognizing your OnePlus Pad as a scan destination. Let's troubleshoot this:

Check Compatibility: First, ensure that your Android tablet is compatible with the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus for scanning purposes. HP provides a list of compatible devices on their website. If your tablet is not listed, there might be compatibility issues.

Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause compatibility issues with newer devices. You can usually update the firmware through the printer's settings menu or via the HP website. Update the firmware on an HP printer

Install HP Smart App: Install the HP Smart app on your Android tablet. This app allows you to print and scan from your mobile device to your HP printer. Once installed, follow the instructions to set up your printer and try scanning again.

Check Network Connection: Make sure both your printer and your Android tablet are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. Sometimes, connectivity issues can prevent devices from recognizing each other.

Manual Input: If your tablet still doesn't appear as a scan destination, you might need to manually input the device's address. Check your printer's manual for instructions on how to do this.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
