Hi @P10P,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting a "memory device error" on the HP OfficeJet 250 Mobile All-in-One Printer when scanning to USB could be due to several factors, such as compatibility issues with the USB drive, file format limitations, or memory capacity constraints. Here are some steps to troubleshoot:

Check USB Compatibility:

  • Ensure the USB drive is formatted to either FAT32 or exFAT. The HP OfficeJet 250 may not support NTFS or other formats.
  • Use a USB drive with a maximum storage capacity of 32 GB, as some printers have limitations on drive size.

Test a Different USB Drive:

  • Try scanning to a different USB stick. Sometimes, certain brands or models of USB drives may not be fully compatible.

Free Up Space on the USB Drive:

  • Ensure there is enough free space on the USB drive for the scanned document. Large scans can require significant space, so aim to have at least a few hundred megabytes available.

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. Firmware updates can resolve compatibility issues with USB drives.

Restart Printer:

  • Power off the printer, unplug it and leave it off for a few minutes. Then, reconnect and try scanning again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
