Restarv Everything.

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from power for 60 seconds.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Check Printer Connection.

If using wifi:

  • Make sure the printer and computer are connected to the same wifi network.
  • Print a network configuration page to confirm the connection.

If using UCB:

  • Try a different USB port.
  • Replace the USB cable if possible.

Use the HP Scan App instead.

  • Download and install the HP Smart App from:
  • Microsoft Store (Windows).
  • App Store (Mac).
  • Open HP Smart → Select printer → Try scanning.

Update or Reinstall Driver.

  • Go to the HP Support website.
  • Search: HP OfficeJet 4650 drivers.
  • Download the latest Full Feature Software & Drivers.
  • Uninstall old HP software first (Control Panel → Programs).
  • Restart the computer.
  • Install a new driver.

Check Windows Services.

  • Press Windows + R
  • Type services.msc
  • Find Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)

Make sure it is:

  • Running
  • Startup type = Automatic

If not, start it.
