Let’s make sure we get everything lined up before diving into the setup. I’ll ask a few quick questions to understand your environment and the device you’re working with:

 

Device details:

  • What’s the exact model of your HP printer or multifunction device?
  • Is it connected via USB, Ethernet, or Wi-Fi?

Scan to Email:

  • Are you trying to use Scan to Email directly from the printer’s control panel, or through software on your computer?
  • Do you have an email service in mind (e.g., Gmail, Outlook, custom domain)?
  • Is the printer on a home network or a business network with a mail server?

Fax setup:

  • Does your printer have a physical fax port (RJ-11) and is it connected to a landline?
  • Or are you trying to use digital faxing (e.g., HP Digital Fax, eFax, or Windows Fax and Scan)?
  • Do you want to send, receive, or both?

Computer environment:

  • Are you using Windows or macOS?
  • Do you already have HP Smart or full-featured drivers installed?
