New HP app deleted my old one and now I can’t find my saved and scanned documents - HELP!! No support to help on new app

I understand your old HP app was replaced by the new HP Smart app, and now you can’t locate your previously saved or scanned documents. Let’s go through steps to find them.

 

1. Check Default Save Location of Old App

The old HP app usually saved scans in:

Documents > HP

Pictures > HP

C:\Users<YourUsername>\Documents\HP

Open File Explorer and check these folders.

 

2. Search for Scanned Files

Press Windows + S, type “.pdf” or “.jpg” (common scan formats).

This will search your entire PC for files, including older scan locations.

 

3. Check HP Smart Cloud

If you used HP Cloud / HP Smart account, open the HP Smart app and log in with the same account.

Go to My Scans / Cloud Storage—your scans may have been uploaded there automatically.

 

4. Look in Recycle Bin

Sometimes the migration deletes local files, check Recycle Bin to see if they were moved there.

 

5. Check Recent Files

Open File Explorer → Quick Access → Recent files.

Your scanned files may appear here even if the default folder changed.

 

6. Prevent Future Loss

When scanning with the new HP Smart app, always note the save location in settings.

Consider enabling cloud backup for easy access across devices.
