I just bought a new computer, HP OmniBook X. It recognizes and I can use my HP wireless printer (LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP m276nw) to print but the scanner doesn't work.

@WaynePA, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If you're experiencing issues with the scanner functionality of your HP LaserJet Pro 200 Color MFP M276nw, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Confirm Network Connection: Ensure your printer is connected to the same network as your computer. A strong and consistent network connection is necessary for scanning, as well as printing.

Software and Drivers: Make sure you have installed the latest drivers and software for your printer. You can download these from the HP Support website by searching for your printer model and selecting the appropriate operating system.

Installation Verification:

  • Confirm that the full software package for the printer is installed, which includes scanning capabilities. Sometimes, only the basic driver is installed, leading to scanning issues.
  • Open the HP software and verify that the scanner component is recognized.

Check Scanner Settings:

  • Open the HP printer software on your computer.
  • Navigate to the scanning section and ensure the scan settings are configured correctly.

Run HP Smart:

Firewall and Security Software: Occasionally, security software can block scan features. Ensure that your firewall or other security softwares are not interfering with the scanner.

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

Physical Check:

  • Ensure there are no obstructions on the scanner glass or the automatic document feeder.
  • Verify the scanner lid is properly closed.

Check for Errors: On your printer’s control panel, check for any error messages or warnings related to the scanner. Follow any suggested resolution steps.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
