HP Officejet Pro 8600

I am trying to use my fax function on the HP Officejet Pro 8600 and do not have a dial tone.  The phone company says everything is working on their end, HP support is telling me they cannot help, I have to call the phone company.  All of the test points come back Pass, except for the dial tone. That is the only one that says Fail.  Please help, I do not know how to get a dial tone. I guess I will call the phone company again as well. Thanks!

Welcome to the HP support community.

As you spoke to the HP support already, This situation will need some additional support from our internal teams in HP.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details).

If you are unfamiliar with how the Community's private message capability works, you can learn about that here.

Cheers.

Hi Ssolt,

Consider checking the back of the device for the ethernet/telephone line you are using. While the printer has two different slots for those lines, sometimes its easy to get them mixed up if you put the telephone line into the ethernet receiver it will produce no dial tone. Swap the location of the telephone line and put it in the one that shows "phone". Then try again!

It happens to me often, when I am in a hurry! If you only have one "connection" you may need a splitter for the ethernet/phone jack in the back of the printer.

Hope this helps!
