Not working

HP Recommended
HP 8600 Pro Plus
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

I've uninstalled the printer, and drivers and firmware, and reinstalled. I keep getting messages, that I can't copy, scan or fax. I am connected wirelessly to the same network. Prints fine, nothing else.

Hi,

A Scanner failure is a failure of the printer hardware, it is not related to the Software Installation or the connection to your PC.

Follow the steps below to resolve a Scanner Failure message, a such may requires servicing the printer or replacing it:

It happened once before, and there was a fix. I’m fairly certain, it’s software.

Printer won’t turn on and off by power button. Also says new update available, when it downloads, I can’t use touch screen to access. Touchscreen doesn’t respond? I know printers are pretty inexpensive, I just want to make sure it’s hardware before I act. It happened before and I fixed it,  just can’t find info, I flowed before.

Just realized the scanning glass is cracked? Can it be replaced?

Generally, as you described both the touch screen not to respond and a cracked scanner glass, this is definitely an hardware failure.

I suggest considering, you may repair the printer in an authorized service center, but personally with the printers prices, getting a new printer with a starter ink and manufacturer warranty would likely be cheaper and more reliable than repairing the printer, which is provided with a limited 3 months warranty for the repair only...
