For those printers (some but never all models) that included embedded OCR software in the full driver, the OCR portion of the software was removed in mid-2022.
The last time your printer's software was released was in 2021 -- There is no mention of OCR software having ever been included in the driver. I am guessing your printer software never included the OCR (Editable PDF) feature.
What about now?
This printer is not eligible for HP+ nor is the printer listed as an eligible non-e model that can make use of the HP+ premium scan and print features. One of the features includes the creation of Editable PDF files.
One choice -- using the printer you have now -- is to purchase / obtain OCR software for your use.
