OFfice jet 8600 using Black Ink only on IMAC

Unable to print using Black ink only.  I can not find the option anywhere to do this

Please advise.

@JohnS1827, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to print only in black. To assist you better,

• Which application are you trying to print from?
• Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

Make sure all 4 ink cartridges are installed in the printer and none of the ink cartridges should be empty or low.

This printer does not support printing in single-cartridge mode.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your MAC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

Also, check for any software updates on MAC

Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.

1. Open a document, photo, or webpage, click File, and then click Print to open the print dialog.

2. If a Show Details button displays at the bottom of the dialog, click it to reveal all available menu options. The button changes to Hide Details when clicked.

   

3. Check if the 'Black and White' box is checked to print only in black. Print Settings Guide
