Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

Below is pasted a question that was asked awhile back but they never received a solution. Has anyone had a similar issue with the OfficeJet 6978?

I do not know how else to explain what we do.

1. We place a document directly on the glass of the printer face down.

2. Using the touchscreen on the printer, we choose to make a copy.

3. We get a blank sheet of paper instead of what is on the original doc

4. We do not receive an error

If do the same process but scan instead of copy, we get a copy displaying what is on the original doc

If we use the ADF, we successfully get a copy of the doc.

Please advise.

Thank you

Welcome to the HP support community.

Reset the printer and check the power source

Reset the printer to clear certain error states, and then check the power source to make sure the printer is getting enough power to operate the copier.

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer, disconnect the power cord from the power source, and then wait 30 seconds.

  2. If you are using a power strip or multi-plug adapter, connect the cord directly to a wall outlet to ensure the printer is getting enough power.

  3. Reconnect the power cord to the printer, and then try making a copy.

    • If the issue persists, connect the printer to a different wall outlet to determine if the original outlet is causing the issue.

    • If the issue persists using a different wall outlet, partially lift the scanner lid, and then press the Copy button or icon. If the scanner light does not illuminate or move across the glass, service the printer.

Update the printer firmware

I hope that helps.
