OfficeJet Pro 6978 won't scan to my Win10 computer

Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I finally upgraded from Win7 to Win10.  My HP-6978 worked flawlessly with Win 7.  With Win 10 Pro, it prints fine.  But when I try to scan to Win 10, I get "Connection Unsuccessful -- The scan could not be completed.  Make sure the computer is connected to the printer and then try again."  My printer is cable-connected to the same house router that my Dell OptiPlex is connected to.  Anyone with ideas, I hope?

Hi @Key12,

 

 I'd be happy to assist you  

 

 Let's try and uninstall the printer software from the root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.

 

--->In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.

--->Select your HP printer.

--->Select Uninstall.

--->In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.

--->In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”

--->Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.

--->Type printui.exe /s and click OK.

--->Click on the Drivers tab.

--->Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.

--->Select OK.

--->Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.

--->Close Devices and Printers.

And then reinstall the printer full-featured drivers from software and drivers page
