HP OfficeJet Pro 8135e All-in-One Printer

After downloading all the software and drivers for this printer, the "Printer Assistant" is missing. I have the "Scanner Assistant" but not the full "Printer Assitant" app. Chatted with support twice and they were unable to help.

I also am unable to set up digital faxes (can't set up SMTP email server).

Does this printer not come with the Printer Assistant app?  And is it not capable of digital faxing? If that's the case, I'll return this printer for one that has those features. Recommendations? I'm so frustrated!

I've been using the OfficeJet Pro 6978 for years and it has those features I mentioned. The fax module went out, which is why I purchased a new printer. I just want the same functionality as the OfficeJet Pro 6978. TYIA!

Welcome to the HP Community --

Your new printer might not include the Printer Assistant --

So goes my new OfficeJet Pro 9135e -- it makes sense that your new printer is similar.

What?

The trend appears to be moving away from a separate "Assistant" application.

Yes, loss of the Printer Assistant might be disconcerting --

Doesn't matter -- "Here we are".

The options you seek are likely available but wrapped in a different methodology that we are used to seeing.

The following example includes a partial example of the EWS > Email Servers portion you need to configure your Digital Fax (for example, Fax Send for archive, print).

What?  The provided example is "in progress" (unfinished at this writing).

In addition, this particular how-to sample is being created for a different purpose.

(It is what I have ready at the moment.)

The Example is provided FYI as a means to introduce the new EWS setup and format for Email Servers used in SMTP Scan to Email and coincidentally for Fax Archive / Print.

Set up the Email Servers section first - then circle back around and set up the Fax Send options (not shown in this example).

Note that Analog Fax is the simpler "fax from printer" setup.

See the parts marked Step 1 (circled "1" section)

What else?

If you want to Fax from your computer, check out the installing HP Universal Fax Driver for Windows

More information at the HP Universal Fax Homepage (includes a user guide).
