HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My scanner has stopped working, the light bar has a blue light not white when scanning and the output is blank with very faint lines in it, the printer itself has an error message on it:

IOREF: 99999

Alert ID: 8048 [scanWarning]

SMS specification not found

Have reinstalled the driver on my laptop but no success, it prints OK both wirelessly and when hard wired.

Any thoughts, ideas welcome

Thanks

Hi @Donut2305,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you're encountering a specific error message related to your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 scanner. The error message "IOREF: 99999" along with "Alert ID: 8048 [scanWarning]" indicates that there might be an issue with the scanning functionality.

Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues. Turn off your printer, wait for a minute, and then turn it back on.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. You can usually find firmware updates on the HP support website for your printer model. Updating the firmware might resolve any known issues with the scanner.
  • Check Scanner Glass and Document Feeder: Make sure that the scanner glass and document feeder are clean and free from any dust or debris. Even a small speck of dirt can cause scanning issues.
  • Reset the Printer: Try resetting your printer to its default settings. This can sometimes resolve software-related issues. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a reset.
  • Check Scanner Settings: Verify that the scanner settings are configured correctly. Make sure that the resolution, color settings, and other parameters are set appropriately for your scanning needs.
  • Reinstall Scanner Drivers: Since you've already tried reinstalling the drivers on your laptop, consider completely uninstalling the scanner drivers from your computer and then reinstalling them again. Ensure that you download the latest drivers from the HP website.
  • Check Network Connection: If you're using the scanner wirelessly, ensure that your printer is connected to the same network as your computer and that the connection is stable.

Hopefully, one of these steps will help you resolve the scanning issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
