I can print from my Mac to my printer (wirelessly) and when I want to scan, sometimes I want to do it by inserting a USB flash drive.  Recently I've been unable to do it. The printer flashes green to say "Yup, I see that flash drive and recognize it." So I click on scan.  The printer does its thing - I hear it scanning.  Then there's a chime sound, all good. Then I click "Nope, no more pages to scan." And I wait for the green light to flash that I can remove my USB.  When I insert the USB into my computer, no scan is there.  I have checked the USB flash drive: I can move files on and off it to my computer, so it's not the flash drive that is malfunctioning.  I can scan to my computer, so not a big deal, but sometimes it's convenient to have it scan to the USB so I can take the scan and go without having to go to the computer and load it on to the USB.  I've upgraded my printer software.  Any other ideas out there?

@Benchik, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I understand you are not able to scan to a USB drive.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your Mac.

Try a different USB drive if available.

Let me know how it goes.
