Product: HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M283cdw

I bought this printer/copier/scanner in late December. Set up was easy. But ever since then I have intermittent problems with it going "Offline" or "Idle." During these episodes, the printer says it is hooked to wifi and is connected to my pc, but still won't print or scan. I've tried the virtual agent - and was told it couldn't fix my problem. I've tried downloading updated software, no resolution. I've turned off the printer, laptop and router (and back on), no resolution. What haven't I thought of?
