HP OfficeJet 6962 All-in-One Printer

The fax set up says the fax component has become damaged.  Is there a diagnostics fix or is a physical repair required?

Hi @AGREENL133,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 6962 printer is indicating that the fax component has become damaged, there are a few steps you can try before resorting to physical repair.

  • Restart the Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute or two, then plug it back in and turn it on again.
  • Update Firmware and Drivers: Make sure your printer's firmware and drivers are up to date. You can usually find updates on the HP support website. Newer firmware versions often include bug fixes that could address issues like this.
  • Check Connections: Ensure all cables connecting the printer to the phone line (if applicable) and power source are securely connected. If you're using a phone line for faxing, check that the phone line is properly connected to both the printer and the wall jack.
  • Reset the Fax Settings: Sometimes, resetting the fax settings to their default values can help resolve issues. Look for an option in the printer's settings menu to reset the fax setting.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
