If your HP printer is producing multiple copies when you only request one, you can try the following steps to resolve the issue:

1. **Check Print Settings**: Ensure that your print settings are configured correctly. Open the print dialog on your computer, and verify that the number of copies is set to "1."

2. **Printer Control Panel**: On the printer's control panel, check the number of copies specified for the print job. Make sure it is set to "1" or the desired number of copies.

3. **Printer Driver Update**: Update the printer driver software on your computer to the latest version. Visit the HP website, enter your printer model, and download the latest driver for your operating system.

4. **Restart Printer**: Turn off your printer, wait for a few minutes, and then turn it back on. This can help reset the printer's internal settings and resolve minor issues.

5. **Reset Printer Settings**: Access the printer's menu or settings through the control panel and look for an option to reset to factory defaults. Performing a factory reset can sometimes resolve configuration issues.

6. **Check Printer Firmware**: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Visit the HP website, enter your printer model, and download any available firmware updates.

7. **Paper Tray Adjustment**: Check the paper tray to ensure that it is not overloaded or improperly adjusted. Make sure the paper guides are set correctly for the paper size you are using.

8. **Clean Paper Feed Rollers**: Dust or debris on the paper feed rollers can cause multiple sheets to be picked up at once. Clean the rollers using a lint-free cloth dampened with water or isopropyl alcohol.

9. **Service or Maintenance**: If the issue persists after trying the above steps, your printer may require service or maintenance. Contact HP customer support or a certified technician for further assistance.

By following these steps, you should be able to troubleshoot and resolve the issue of your HP printer feeding out multiple copies when you only request one.
