I work in IT at the Local hospital, and was called about this unit. I have found the issue being that one of the parts for feeding the paper into the scanner from the Document feeder has broken. The part in question is in the center with a rubber wheel on one side and the other side has a cog wheel and a piece of plastic that forms outward to ack as a "catch"  this catch is the piece that has broken off of this unit.
