Hi, 

I am unable to install the correct driver for my new HP OfficeJet 5255.  I went through the installation via the HP Smart App, but when it came down to adding the new printer, my MAC does not auto-detect the driver, despite it recognizing the printer name/kind.  I try to select a driver manually, but the drivers listed jump from the 4630 series to the 5500 series. 

 

I was able to print to it using a generic PCL printer, but doing so does not allow me to take advantage of the printers capabilities. 

 

I tried using the HP remote assistant, but lead to no where soon.  Any help is appreciated.

To better assist you - 

  • How is the printer connected to the device USB or wireless? 

If wireless,

  • What is the status of the wireless light on the printer, steady or blinking?
  • I would like to know, is your router set to work on 2.4 GHz network or 5 GHz network band?
