Just bought my new printer. Set it up and able to print from my ipad and iphone. Also able to send file to email to print.
But unable to scan photo/document from the Printer's flatbed scanner. When I run HP App's scanner function, after a minute of processing, it says that the Printer is not available.
I am connected to the same wifi network as well.
Any insights?

I ended up calling Support. I was told that I could only use the camera option on the HP app on my iOS device. The scan from printer isn’t possible.
If so, why would they have that option on the app? My old three year old Canon printer that I replaced had the ability to scan from the printer flatbed onto my iPhone and iPad. I was told that if I wanted to scan from the printer, it is only possible from a computer.
is this true??? Is anyone else using the HP app to scan from the printer?.

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. I came across your post and would like to assist.
I understand that you have an HP ENVY 4520 All-in-One Printer and are able to print from your iPad and iPhone. But cannot scan a photo/document using the HP app. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.
You should be able to scan using the HP app. Please click here to access the detailed information about the HP app. It clearly states that you may print or scan using the HP app.
I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the HP app on your iPad and iPhone and then try to scan. Let me know if you encounter any error message and also mention the error message that you get (if any).
I hope this information helps. Keep me posted. Good luck! 🙂

Hi @dangerdude,
Thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.
I understand that the issue has not resolved after following the steps mentioned in the previous interaction.
This issue may require a one to one interaction over the phone.
Hence, you may contact HP Technical Phone Support at this link: http://hp.care/2r9wSvP
Select the country where you are located and type the product# or the serial number of the unit and then choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information. Click on 'Show Options' icon and then scroll down the page and select 'Get Phone Number' to get the phone number.
You have a good day ahead.

Scanning from the HP App Scan had been working on my Ipad2 until a few days ago. It no longer works. So your info from HP is misinformation. Usually the end users know their product much better than the support people from Mars.
I have tried everything that I can possibly do to scan from the Scan app. Won't work. So I have to use the Scan to Email in order to utilize the scanner in HP App. Don't know what happened to change things. No updates or changes. Just must be a timed problem from HP.
