Product: HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Printer

I have unplugged,waited and plugged it back in.  I have made sure the firmware was the latest (it is and it is set to auto update).  

The printer will say its scanning about every 40 minutes or so - and it seems to be doing a flatbed scan.  Nothing I know on my network is asking for this.  How can i stop it or see where its coming from?  

I've looked in the web admin interface and there seems to be no usage logs.  

its connected to wifi on my home wifi - if I disconnect this of course it stops.

I've done a factory reset on the printer.  After it reset itself, I put in the wifi information to get it back on the network and immediately it did a scan again and started doing a scan every so often by itself.   No logs or way to get logs on what ip is requesting the scan?
