Hi @Melendez123,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer is having trouble scanning, you can follow these troubleshooting steps to try and resolve the issue.

Check Connection:

  • Ensure that your printer is properly connected to your computer or network.
  • If you are using a wireless connection, make sure that the printer and the computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Update Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest drivers installed for your printer. Visit the official HP website and download the latest drivers for your specific printer model.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off both your computer and the printer.
  • Wait for a few minutes and then turn them back on.
  • Try scanning again.

HP Print and Scan Doctor:

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility from the HP website. This tool can automatically diagnose and resolve printing and scanning problems.

Check for Software Conflicts:

  • Ensure that there are no conflicting software or firewall settings that might be preventing the scanning process. Temporarily disable any firewall or security software and see if the issue persists.

Reset Printer:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet.
  • Wait for a few minutes.
  • Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
  • Try scanning again.

Check Scanner Connection:

  • If the scanner has a physical connection (USB), ensure that the cable is securely connected to both the printer and the computer.

Reinstall the Software:

  • Uninstall the printer software from your computer and then reinstall it. This can help to resolve any corrupted software issues.

Check Scanner Settings:

  • Ensure that the scanner settings are correctly configured. Check the printer control panel or the HP software on your computer for scanning settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
