Common problems HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to scan
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.
HP Recommended

I scanned several pages of music which were 9X12 in size. They look fine on the screen when opened after saving. When I try to print from the scanned pdf, the bottom of the page prints with large black rectangles covering the bottom 1/4 of the page.

What can I do to fix this problem.

If I print the scanned document, to PDF first and then print from that file, it prints fine.

I am using an HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e that I have had for 1 month.

Hi @Geno56,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that the  issue you're experiencing with large black rectangles appearing on the bottom quarter of printed scans can be frustrating. IAdjust Print Settings.

Update Printer Driver

  • Go to your printer manufacturer’s support site.
  • Download and install the latest driver package for your printer model.
  • Outdated drivers often misinterpret scanned PDF image layers.

Update PDF Viewer

  • If you’re using Adobe Reader, update to the latest version.
  • Try printing from another viewer (e.g., Microsoft Edge, Foxit Reader, SumatraPDF).
  • Different viewers handle scanned image layers differently.

Test on Another Printer

  • If possible, try printing the same file on a different printer.
  • If it prints fine elsewhere, the issue is driver‑specific to your printer.

Update Printer and Scanner Drivers:

  • Make sure that both your printer and scanner drivers are up to date.
  • Outdated drivers can sometimes cause unexpected output when processing documents.

Take care and have an amazing day!
