When I go to system settings on my Mac> printers and scanners> HP color LaserJet Pro,> options and supplies… there is no option to select the EWB. Any other ideas?

Hi @JRS_Rosecity,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it is when you’re locked out by an expired certificate, and I’m here to guide you step-by-step to fix this on your HP LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw using your Mac. Let’s get your printer back to working smoothly:

Step 1: Open the Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  1. On your Mac, go to System Settings → Printers & Scanners.
  2. Select your HP Color LaserJet Pro M277dw and click Options & Supplies…
  3. Click Show Printer Web Page, which opens the printer’s EWS in your browser.

Step 2: Bypass the Certificate Warning

  • You may see a security warning (due to the expired certificate).
  • Click Advanced (or equivalent prompt) and choose Proceed or Continue Unsafely. This lets you access the EWS.

Step 3: Generate a New Self-Signed Certificate

  1. In the EWS, navigate to NetworkingAdvanced SettingsCertificates.
  2. Click Configure (beside the existing “Printer Certificate”).
  3. Choose Create a New Self‑Signed Certificate, then proceed.
  4. Set its validity to the maximum (e.g. 3650 days / 10 years), then click Apply (or Finish).

Step 4: Assign the New Certificate & Restart

  • After creation, go to Certificate Assignments in EWS (if available), and assign the new certificate to:
    • HTTPS
    • IPP
    • Other secure services
  • Restart your printer to activate the new certificate.

Step 5: Test Printing

  • Go back to your Mac.
  • Resume the paused or failed print job; your printer should now connect securely and resume printing.
