HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a HP Office Jet Pro 9010 series printer connected to my laptop by WIFI. I can send a fax from my Samsung 23 phone, but I can not receive a fax. An error message reads “No Dial Tone Detected Error Code SFAPI_LE_045”. I can hear the fax machine trying to connect on my phone, but my phone is not connecting. I don’t know if it is a printer app, phone hardware or app problem, but I need your help.

Hi @Victor_11,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

The error message "No Dial Tone Detected Error Code SFAPI_LE_045" typically indicates that the fax line is not properly connected, or there might be an issue with the phone line. Here’s how you can troubleshoot the problem:

1. Check the Phone Line Connection

  • Ensure that the phone line is securely connected to the "1-Line" port on the back of the HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series printer.
  • If you are using a DSL line, ensure that you have a DSL filter connected between the phone line and the wall jack.
  • Make sure the phone line is working properly by plugging it into a regular phone and checking for a dial tone.

2. Run a Fax Test

  • On the printer's control panel, go to Settings > Fax > Run Fax Test.
  • This will test the fax setup and provide information on any issues.

3. Disable or Adjust the Fax Line Settings

  • If you have an answering machine or voicemail on the same line, make sure that the Rings to Answer setting on the printer is set to a higher number than the answering machine.
  • You can access this setting via the printer's control panel under Fax Settings > Fax Setup > Basic Fax Setup > Rings to Answer.

4. Check for Call Waiting

  • If you have call waiting on your phone line, it might interfere with fax reception. Consider disabling call waiting while receiving faxes.

5. Update Printer Firmware

  • Ensure that your printer firmware is up-to-date. You can check for updates via the printer's control panel under Settings > Printer Maintenance > Update the Printer.

You may also refer to this document for further assistance.

If the issue persists, contact your phone service provider to ensure there is no issue with the phone line or service that could be preventing a dial tone from being detected.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
