Recently whenever I try to scan a document HP Smart asks me to log in. It has to open a separate browser window, enter user name and password. Then it will do it all again next time I want to scan a different document. Why all this extra work just to use a product? And if it's really necessary, why doesn't it remember the account and / or keep you logged in?

It didn't do this prior to maybe a month ago. You could just press the printer icon, select scan and go.
