SCANNED DOCS "SENT TO" MAC AIR CANNOT BE LOCATED ON LAPTOP. DRIVERS DELETED BY APPLE?

HP Recommended
HP ENVY 7645
macOS 11.0 Big Sur

MY PRINTER INDICATES THAT THE SCANNED DOCS HAVE BEEN SENT TO MY LAPTOP,  BUT I CANNOT LOCATE THE FILES.  ARTICLES AND CHAT ON THE 'NET SUGGEST THAT HP "ACCIDENTALLY" REQUESTED OF APPLE THAT THEY INVALIDATE THE CERTIFICATES ON CERTAIN DRIVERS.  BUT HP HAS APPARENTLY BEEN SILENT ON THE ISSUE.  MEANWHILE, I CANNOT SUCCESSFULLY SCAN TO MY MacBook Air, WHICH IS A HUGE LOSS OF FUNCTION FOR ME.  A CYNIC MIGHT SPECULATE THAT HP IS HOPING WE'LL ALL BUY NEW PRINTERS... LIKE NOW!

I'VE GONE THROUGH THE STEPS FROM THE HP ROBO-SUPPORT SPECIALIST ICON, WITHOUT SUCCESS. I STOPPED SHORT OF REINSTALLING  THE PRINTER SOFTWARE.

NO ERROR MESSAGES, ETC. HAVE APPEARED ON THE PRINTER OR IN MY MAC.  SEEMS WEIRD.  I'M NOT A TECHIE.

@Gravidays, Welcome to HP Support Community!

To be able to assist you better, I'd like to know the following-

  • Are you able to print from the computer?
  • Are you trying to scan from the printer front panel?
  • Have you tried using the Apple Image Capture or HP Easy Scan?

Meanwhile, ensure that the printer is up to date with its firmware and Mac is up to date with its software. If you are unsure you may use the links below to update the printer firmware and Mac software:

Update printer firmware

Update software on Mac

Refer to the document How to scan with an HP printer for alternate scan options.

Keep me posted for further assistance.

Yes, my print fn is fine.

Yes, I’ve used the HP ENVY front panel “Scan to Computer” fn for the unsuccessful scans.

No, I’m not familiar with either Apple Image Capture (I use Screen Shot) or HP Easy Scan.

I shall consult the links and the document you’ve provided, and see if something will work.

Many thanks, TEJ.
