I use the HP smart app to operate my  laserjet MFP1005w which is a printer **bleep** scanner **bleep** copier. The app is not detecting the scanner. I have tried to switch off/on, reinstall the app etc. all that the virtual assistant advised. 

Can someone help me please ? The scanner is very important for me to operate.

1. Check Connections

  • Ensure the printer/scanner is properly connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your device running the HP Smart app.
  • Restart your router and make sure the connection is stable.

2. Update Drivers and Firmware

  • Update the printer firmware:
    • Go to the HP support website.Search for your printer model and download the latest firmware.
    • Follow the instructions to update the firmware.
  • Update the HP Smart app to the latest version from the app store.

3. Check HP Smart App Permissions

  • Ensure the HP Smart app has the necessary permissions:
    • On Windows, check the Firewall settings.On macOS, ensure the app has permissions in System Preferences > Security & Privacy.
    • On mobile devices, ensure the app has permissions to access your network and local storage.

4. Reset the Printer:

  • On the printer control panel, navigate to the settings menu.Select "Restore Factory Defaults" or a similar option.Confirm the reset and restart the printer.

5. Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows)

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.Follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and fix any issues.

6. Check for HP Smart App Alternatives

  • Try using alternative scanning software:
    • HP Scan and Capture (Windows)HP Easy Scan (macOS)Windows Fax and Scan (Windows)Preview (macOS)

7. Direct IP Address Connection:

  • Find the printer’s IP address from the printer’s control panel.Enter the IP address in a web browser to access the printer’s Embedded Web Server (EWS).Check for any settings related to the scanner or network connectivity.

8. Reinstall the HP Smart App

  • Completely uninstall the HP Smart app from your device.Restart your device.
  • Reinstall the HP Smart app from the official source.
