Hi @adwamw65,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP OfficeJet Pro 8020e scanner not showing the Save button when scanning documents. Let’s go through a few checks.

Check the Selected Scan Destination

  • Open the HP app on your computer.
  • Select your HP OfficeJet Pro 8020e.
  • Click Scan and choose Scanner.
  • In the scan settings panel, confirm that Destination is set to Save as File.
  • Once a file destination is selected, check if the Save button appears.

Note: The Save option only appears when the scan destination is set to a file location.

Verify File Type and Scan Settings

  • Open the scan screen in the HP app.
  • Check the File Type setting (PDF, JPEG, or PNG).
  • Select a valid file format such as PDF.
  • Confirm that Preview completes successfully.
  • After preview, check if the Save option becomes available.

Restart the Printer and Computer

  • Turn the printer on.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Unplug the cord from the wall outlet and wait 60 seconds.
  • Restart the computer during this time.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn the printer back on.

Reset the Printer in the HP App

  • Open the HP app.
  • Remove the HP OfficeJet Pro 8020e from the device list.
  • Close the application completely.
  • Reopen the HP app and select Add Printer.
  • Add the printer again and try scanning.

Update the Printer Driver

  • Go to the HP support website in a web browser.
  • Search for HP OfficeJet Pro 8020e drivers.
  • Download the latest Full Feature Software and Drivers package.
  • Run the installer and follow the prompts.
  • After installation completes, attempt the scan again and check if the Save button appears.

I hope this helps.
