Scan Dr. Stuck on Windows (WIA) Scan no communication with Printer

Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have an HP PhotoSmart 6520 all in one. The printer is wireless connected. I can print, however, I can not scan anymore. I was able to scan 2 weeks ago.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software, updated drivers, checked the firewall, updated the IP Address, ran the Scan Doctor 5.3.1 the Windows (WIA) Scan comes back with a wrench on it.. all the other boxes have the green check. I've tried some of the other solutions provided like starting and stopping items in the Device Manager. 

 

What can I do?

@BrianWatson, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

 

Try making a standalone copy and check if that works. By this, we can conclude if this is a hardware or a driver issue.

 

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

 

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest firmware from your PC.

Try scanning. If the issue persists, use the HP Smart app to scan from your Win PC
