I had the 9010 HP OfficeJet Pro and had a scan shortcut pinned to my computer screen and now have new HP OJP 9120e and it will not let me set it up. I would scan and then directly email docs that were scanned. Not letting me do that with new printer/scanner. Thoughts??? Thanks!

Hi @TerryPoe,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To set up a scan shortcut for your new HP OfficeJet Pro 9120e, follow these steps.
Install HP Smart Software:
- Ensure you have the HP Smart app installed on your computer. You can download it from the Microsoft Store or HP’s official website.
Add Your Printer:
- Open the HP Smart app and add your OfficeJet Pro 9120e if it’s not already added. Click on the “+” icon and follow the on-screen instructions to add your printer.
Configure Scan to Email:
- In HP Smart, go to the “Printer Settings” or “Manage” section.
- Look for “Scan” or “Scan Shortcuts” and select it.
- You might see an option for “Email” as a destination. If not, you can create a new scan shortcut.
- To create a new scan shortcut, click on “Create Shortcut” or “Add Shortcut” and then select “Email” as the destination.
- Enter the necessary details for your email configuration. This may include entering your email address and SMTP server settings if required.
Create Desktop Shortcut:
- Once the scan shortcut is set up in HP Smart, you can pin it to your desktop for quick access.
- Look for the newly created scan shortcut in HP Smart. There should be an option to “Pin to Desktop” or “Create Shortcut.”
- Follow the prompts to create a shortcut on your desktop.
Test the Shortcut:
- Open the scan shortcut from your desktop and test scanning a document to ensure it works correctly and sends the scanned document to your email.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
