Scan bar on my new HP Deskjet 4122 All in One is continuously moving a short distance back and forth

The scan bar is continuously going a short distance back and forth and will stop.  I have raised the lid and it will quit. As soon as I close the lid it starts again.  I have uninstalled and reinstalled and made sure firmware, printer updates, security updates are all up to date and it still keeps doing it.  It will print a document fine it's just the dang scan bar that is driving me up the wall.  It's brand new and should not be having these issues.  When I  try to turn the printer off it will not turn off.  I have to unplug the cord from the back to get it to go off.  Need help or any direction on what I need to do about it.  It's obviously still under warranty from the manufacture since it's brand new.

Sorry the scan bar will NOT stop keeps moving back and forth.

If it is brand new, stop wasting your time, get it replaced by the vendor.
