Note: From May 1, 2024, the HP Scan and Capture app will no longer be available (retired) in the Microsoft Store and HP will not release any further app updates. Alternatively, you can download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store. For more information on how to set up your printer using the HP Smart app, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).

We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about HP Solution Center not working : Adobe Flash Player Error and Unable to Scan.

When I try to scan a document and send it wirelessly to my laptop, the HP 6978 says can’t find the computer.  if I start a scan from the laptop, it works, but I can only scan one page at a time!!

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

 

Check Network Connection – Make sure both the printer and laptop are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. If the printer is on a different network (like a guest network), it won't see the laptop.

 

Restart the Printer and Computer

  • Turn off the printer. Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds. Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
  • Restart your computer to ensure there are no pending software issues.

Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Go to Control PanelProgramsPrograms and Features. Find and uninstall any HP printer software.
  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and download the latest drivers. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor:

Update Printer Firmware

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) for Multiple Pages:

  • Make sure you're using the Document Feeder, not the flatbed.
  • Open HP Scan software, set the scan type to "Document," and select PDF (Multiple Pages).

Firewall & Security Software: If you have security software or a firewall enabled, try temporarily disabling it to see if it's blocking the connection.
